Jonathen E. Davis
Visual Journalist, Image Hero
Jonathen E. Davis is a Southern California adventure photographer and videographer. With a focus in photojournalism and video documentary – Jonathen is also skilled in candid, portrait and macro photography, as well as design and video editing.
Jonathen recently became a United States Navy veteran having completed his six years of service as a Mass Communication Specialist. Jonathen has traveled the globe in search of vivid images that capture the essence of hardworking service members. Driven by the passionate belief that every person deserves a voice, he takes care to craft the stories of even the easy to ignore. “Everyone has a story to tell. Like hidden gems, these people don’t think the things they do are interesting and important but they are. The audience is looking to hear about these stories; these stories are emotional, motivational, and inspirational.”
He began his career on the remote island of Diego Garcia as a news writer and the sole military photographer. After transferring to the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis he began cultivating his skills in videography by using his knowledge of photographic technique. Ready for a new challenge, Jonathen re-enlisted and began his last tour of duty with the elite military documentary team at Expeditionary Combat Camera where he strove to push his talent and knowledge to higher limits. It was with Combat Camera that he was able to step beyond the bounds of a sailor and seek out stories and images few individuals would have the opportunity to experience.
Although he is now a veteran, his experience as a Mass Communication Specialist and Combat Cameraman continues to fuel his passion for photography and videography. It is with a sense of pride in his roots that he is still seeking to capture the moments of people’s lives.
Jonathen is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Visual Journalism at Brooks Institute in Ventura, California.
