Now based in New York City, I have been working as a photojournalist in the Palestinian territories and Israel since 1998. My photographs have appeared in a wide range of media outlets including The Wall Street Journal, United Press International, the Los Angeles Times, Corbis Images, Bloomberg News Photos, Bild, Le Monde, Haaretz, DPA-Picture Alliance, NurPhoto, The Jerusalem Post, Al-Quds, Monocle, National Geographic News, Archaeology and Ma’an Images. I also served as the British Embassy-Tel Aviv’s official photographer from 2005 to 2013, and shoot routinely for other diplomatic missions, NGOs and private companies.
Represented by Read Contemporary in Dallas, Texas, I premièred my solo exhibition of the nesa’iyeh project, documenting the work of Palestinian women street activists, in 2012. I am also the author of My New Middle East, a finalist for the 2012 New Mexico-Arizona Book Award (political writing category) and a nominee for the 2013 Dayton Literary Peace Prize.
I was awarded a Rory Peck Trust Training Bursary in October 2013 to participate in an intensive hostile-environment training course at Columbia Journalism School.
