NPPA has been a supporter of the Free Flow of Information Act, sometimes referred to as the Federal Shield Law. It was approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee last month on a bipartisan, 13-5 vote. If passed by Congress, the Act would be the first statute to protect journalists from being forced to identify their confidential sources in federal court.
