No matter how rapid the arrival of professional emergency responders, bystanders will always be first on the scene. A person who is bleeding can die from blood loss within five minutes, therefore it is important to quickly stop the blood loss. Those nearest to someone with life threatening injuries are best positioned to provide first care. Bleeding is the most common cause of preventable death after injury and must be stopped as soon as possible. Learn the skills to that can help you save a life. Minutes count,that’s why bleeding control—keeping the blood inside the body—is the purpose of STOP THE BLEED® training. You will learn how to effectively stop bleeding using direct pressure, tourniquets and wound packing.
** Course Note: This course is typically done in a traditional classroom setting, because of COVID-19 that is not practical. Completion of the in-person class requires students to demonstrate the skills to an instructor, in this zoom setting that is not practical and a certificate of completion will not be awarded.
